How Automatic Line Turns Work in Vessel Timing
When you add a full day's production to Vessel Timing in one step, Project Manager can insert line turns automatically between closely spaced lines — saving manual entry while avoiding false line turns across long gaps.

Project Manager can add a line turn (LT) for you automatically when you move production into Vessel Timing — but only in specific circumstances. This note explains when it happens and why.
When it happens
When you add production entries to Vessel Timing one at a time — using Click to add entry and picking a single operation — each line appears on the timeline as you enter it, with the gap between lines left as it is.
When you instead use All production today to add a full day's lines in one step, Project Manager looks at the gap between consecutive lines. Where that gap is short, it inserts a line turn between the two lines automatically. Where the gap is long, it leaves the lines unchanged.
Why it works that way
A short gap between two production lines is usually a line turn — the vessel coming around to start the next line — so adding it for you saves the manual clicks. A long gap is different: it often means something else happened between the lines, and the software should not assume that time was all line turn. Limiting the automatic insertion to short gaps keeps the timeline accurate and avoids inventing line turns that were not there.
What it means for you
If you add lines one at a time as you shoot them, you may not see this behaviour at all — it appears when you add a full day in one step. The result is less manual entry, and less of the duplicated work that comes from building the timing record by hand.
If the gap threshold that triggers an automatic line turn does not match your operation's nominal line turn, let us know what behaviour you would prefer and we will look at adjusting it. The software is guided by what crews tell us they need.
